The Opportunity

 

We are seeking an innovative Translational and Precision Medicine Disease Area Head to drive the growth of an expanding Immuno-oncology portfolio. This role will shape the strategic direction of Translational and Precision Medicine (TPM) efforts, leveraging advanced research to maximize the success of drug development programs in this critical therapeutic area.

As the leader of the TPM team, you will oversee translational science, clinical biomarker development, and precision medicine studies. Working closely with discovery, preclinical, and clinical development teams, you will play a pivotal role in advancing new drug candidates efficiently through early and late-stage clinical trials.

How You’ll Spend Your Day

  • Lead Drug Development Programs: Oversee TPM support for drug asset programs, enhancing success and minimizing risks from first-in-human trials through post-approval.
  • Develop & Execute Strategy: Define and implement the TPM strategy for Immuno-oncology, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Lead the TPM Team: Manage a team of experts in Translational Science, Clinical Biomarkers, and Precision Medicine, driving innovation and regular strategic reviews.
  • Biomarker Research Leadership: Spearhead initiatives in biomarker development, linking molecular, histologic, and digital biomarkers to drug response and safety.
  • Oversee Clinical Studies: Design, execute, and interpret early-phase clinical studies while ensuring compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.
  • Innovate Endpoints & Stratification: Identify novel clinical endpoints and patient stratification strategies to enhance safety and efficacy evaluations.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with preclinical and clinical groups to expedite the progression of new drug candidates into late-stage development.
  • Regulatory Engagement: Lead regulatory submissions and manage interactions with regulatory authorities to facilitate smooth approval processes.
  • Generate Scientific Insights: Apply clinical and scientific insights to optimize drug targeting, patient selection, and combination therapy strategies.
  • External Leadership: Foster relationships with academic institutions, patient advocacy groups, and commercial partners, and represent the organization at international conferences.

 

Your Experience and Qualifications

  • Education: M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in a relevant medical or scientific field (e.g., Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics).
  • Experience: 7-10 years of experience in early clinical research and drug development, with significant expertise in translational and precision medicine, biomarker sciences, and oncology.
  • Leadership: At least 2 years of managerial experience, with a demonstrated ability to lead projects and teams in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or related industries.
  • Technical Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of clinical development, including study design, execution, and management, with adherence to ICH, GCP, and GLP guidelines.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Experience engaging with regulatory authorities and leading regulatory submissions.
  • Clinical Certification: Board eligibility or certification in oncology is preferred but not required.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with a proven ability to build relationships and influence across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Leadership & Time Management: Strong ability to manage multiple priorities and projects with efficiency, maintaining a focus on deadlines and deliverables.
  • Problem-solving & Adaptability: Thrives in a fast-paced environment, with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex projects while knowing when to engage others for input or decision-making.
